AIC的作词一大特点是真实，no bullshit 。Staley 写了包扩JUNKHEAD,GODSMACK,DIRT,ANGRY CHAIR等歌曲的词，有一种共性:吸食读品前期的愉悦快乐，而后最终的抑郁苦痛;而Cantrell 写了Would,ROOSTER 等歌，前者是对Andrew Wood(同音)的Tribute ，后者是关于他参加过越战的父亲。
